Welcome to British International Schools in Kurdistan - Hawler

    Dear parents and students

Classes will  begin on September 7th 2014

Dear Parents and Visitors to British International Schools Kurdistan-Hawler
Due to the 120 Road construction and difficulties reaching the school, and the start of school renovation in preparation for upcoming academic year, we are operating from our Sima Group office at Italian village. For all your registration, tuition payments, inquires and others please visit us at:
Sima Group
B13 Italian Village

If you need directions “see map below”, or call any of the school numbers for directions.

Registration for 2014/2015 is now open

We are now accepting registrations for the academic year 2014/2015.

We have places available in all grades from KG1 to Year 11.

If you would like more information about our school and or the application process please call us on 0750 4978884 or 07717142707 to arrange an appointment to visit the school.

Please visit our Fees page for more information for our charges for new students for the coming year.

We require a non-refundable application fee with the completed application form and we require a first payment of the resource fee and 1/3 of the tuition fee to be paid by the 30th June or you may lose your place. If you pay the application fee, the resource fee and the full tuition fee by the 30th June you will a discount of 5% off the tuition fee.

The child who is applying for a place MUST be seen by a member of staff and in addition children applying for Grades 4 and above will be required to sit an entrance exam (which lasts up to 90 minutes) to allow us to assess their abilities in English, Maths and Science.

All children applying for a place from Grade 3 upwards MUST speak English. For children applying for places in KG1 to Grade 2 we strongly recommend that they speak some English as it will make it easier for them to settle into the school when we open and to follow basic instructions given by the teachers, teaching assistants or any other member of staff.

Exam Schedules

Our exam schedule for years 3,4 and 5 can be found here. Exams start on the 1st June and last for two weeks.

We will publish our exam schedule for the older year group by the end of tommorow. Exams for the older children start on the 15th June and will last between 5 and 7 days.

School Opening !

Update (24/05): Update directions. Please go along 100M past the big Korek building, past the mosque, past Mocha&More and Bejidi. Turn right onto the big 2 side road and go all the way to the VERY END - follow signs to the traffic department.  You need to enter the car park and immediatley turn sharp left.   It looks like there is no way through (!) but there is. Go across what will be the new 120M road and follow the "track" until you reach the school!!!

Update (21/05 @ 20:30) Well we finally have road access to the school. From 100Meter go into 32Park/Sarbasty past Korek building. Head to "Mroor" Traffic Police car park. From the car park there will be a Traffic Police Officer who will direct you through the farmer's field and this access road will take you directly to the main entrance of the school without going anywhere near the Mosul Road (or the Old Mosul Road near the Residency Office).

On behalf of myself and the parents and students of British International Schools I would like to the thank the following people in making this happen:

  • Kak Didar Zibari (the father of 2 students in our school)
  • Kak Nawzad Hadi (Mayor of Halwer)
  • Kak Alan (an admirer of our school)
  • Kak Assad (Head off Municipality 6) and his staff for tarmacing the area in front of the school entrance and arranging for access through the farmers fields
  • and finally to the local farmers of Toureq who allowed us to their fields, especially during harvest time.
Please ensure that when you drop you child at school on Sunday morning that you collect a small "badge/logo" from the school that will identify you to the traffic police and let you use this road for the next few weeks.
